Experimental testing of elasticity modulus for base layers of pavements
Kotas, Vojtěch ; Mondschein,, Petr (referee) ; Stehlík, Dušan (advisor)
The thesis is focused on experimental testing of resilient modulus Mr with triaxial test of chosen unbounded and bounded mixtures used in the sub-base layer of pavement. The reason of testing is to compare results with TP 170 – pavement construction guide containing commonly used values of resilient modulus Mr. Thesis should check if those values are correct and real. For classification of chosen materials there are used another tests like grain size distribution, compaction, California bearing ratio CBR for unbounded mixtures and compressive strength for cement-bounded mixtures.

This diploma thesis deals with the design principles and manifacture of ultra performance concrete (UHPC), reactive powder composites (RPC) and other fine-grained materials, such as Macro defect free (MDF) or Densified systems with small particles (DSP). Theoretical part of this work is focused on the requirements of properties and composition UHPC and RPC and methodology of their design principles. Experimental part describes design principles RPC, manufacture of test specimens, testing of certain physical and mechanical properties, such as tensile strenght, bending strenght and compressive strenght and determination chemical character X-ray and thermal analysis.
Brickmaking grogs and their thermo-dilatometric determination
Hladík, Václav ; Skotal, Zbyněk (referee) ; Sokolář, Radomír (advisor)
Main focus of the bachelor´s thesis is use of rock waste fraction as an alternative raw material to traditional quartz sand. Effect of this substitution on ceramic produts properties is outlined. Key properties are water absorption, flexural strength and compressive strength. The practical part traces the potential of alternative grogs. Their behavior is monitored by DKTA analysis, water absorption tests and strength tests. Thesis includes author´s suggestion of an optimal grog based on publications and results of the practical part.
Lime mortars with the addition of ground limestone
Žižlavský, Tomáš ; Rovnaníková, Pavla (referee) ; Vyšvařil, Martin (advisor)
The thesis is focused on an effect of addition of ground limestone on properties of lime based mortars. Theoretical part of the thesis deals with diferenciation of plasters and their utilization, history of using limestone as an aggregate, its exploitation in the present and its impact on properties of lime based plasters, specially on strenghts. In the next part there's elaborated the carbonation reaction including the influence of external agents. Practical part of the thesis is focused on proving assumtions from theoretical part, particulary on the influence of ground limestone on the strenght properties of lime based plasters.
Current development of UHPC concrete and verification of selected properties
Panenková, Monika ; Sedlmajer, Martin (referee) ; Křížová, Klára (advisor)
This bachelor thesis deals with current developments and research in the field of ultra high performance concrete – UHPC. Theoretical part of this work is focused on the composition and properties of UHPC compared to normal strength concretes. It describes design principles, constructions in the world and also in the Czech Republic and other use of this material. Experimental part describes the design of UHPC, manufacture of test specimens and testing for certain physical and mechanical properties such as compressive strength, tensile strength, bending strength, water impermeability, frost resistance, resistance to chemical de-icing substances and abrasiveness of the material.
Refractory Products for Aluminum Metallurgy Industry
Kupcová, Zuzana ; Lang, Karel (referee) ; Nevřivová, Lenka (advisor)
The master´s thesis focuses on high-alumina refractory materials used mainly in aluminia metallurgy. Teoretical part of this thesis is aimed at distribution of refractory materials, possibilities of its production and raw material basis. Characteristic properties are described as well as application possibilities in aluminium technology. In final part of this thesis experimental data are evaluated to obtain physical, mechanical, chemical properties of high-alumina refractory materials. Those are used for economical optimalization of raw materials.
Waste building material to subgrade pavement
Masař, Daniel ; Hýzl, Petr (referee) ; Stehlík, Dušan (advisor)
The theoretical part of the diploma thesis searches the production of Construction and demolition waste and their subsequent transformation into the final recyclate and its possible use in roads. Attention is focused on the use of mixed recycled material into subgrade of the pavement and the characteristics of tests that must be performed before its used to the road. The next chapters pai attention to the problematic properties of recyclates, foreign experience with the use of mixed recyclate in Construction and the possibilities of its development. The practical part verifies the suitability of mixed recycled material into subgrade of the pavement using laboratory tests. The tests are performer on individual mixtures of mixed recycled material with cement, blast furnace slag or cement dust in various percentages. The results are then compared and it is evaluated which mixtures show the best properties. Part of the practical part is also the economic evaluation of these mixtures against commonly used materials.
Influence of zinc on mechanical properties of cement composites
Štarha, Tomáš ; Šilerová,, Iva (referee) ; Šiler, Pavel (advisor)
The theme of this bachelor thesis is to monitor the effect of zinc on mechanical properties of portland cement. Zinc was tested in the form of zinc oxide. Three acceleration additives were added, calcium oxide, formic acid and calcium formate in various proportions. Furthermore, the mechanical properties of all these mixtures were monitored by measuring flexural strength and compressive strength at 7 and 28 days after mixing and mixtures were analyzed by XRD and DTA. Also using isoperibolic calorimetry, the hydration of CEM 42.5 R cement zinc oxide was monitored.
The influence of the change of moisture content of timber on its physical-mechanical properties
Dziadková, Aneta ; Anton, Ondřej (referee) ; Heřmánková, Věra (advisor)
This bachelor thesis determines mechanical and physical properties of timber in different state of water absorption. Three sets of samples will be used to define their density, dimensional and volume swelling ratio, compressive strength and bending tensile strength. As an evaluation, properties obtained from testing will be graphically illustrated depending on moisture content.
Possibilities of using light artificial aggregate based on sintered high-temperature fly ash in heat-resistant concrete structures
Mazán, Tomáš ; Sedlmajer, Martin (referee) ; Křížová, Klára (advisor)
The final thesis describes contemporary knowledge of research and development in the area of the heat-resistant concrete constructions with using porous aggregate from flying ash. The theoretical part introduces the production and the agloporit aggregate basic features. The principles of using in the incoming materials of light weight concrete are presented next. The thermal loading with influence at concrete constructions and the other individual materials is also mentioned in the final thesis. The experimental part of the thesis deals with the impact of lightweight aggregate quantity on the high temperature resistance. Conclusion pays attention to the obtained results evaluation and to the composition an optimal formula LWAC, which could be able to resist short-term thermal loading.
